Who is Steven Ladd?

I believe when doing business with someone it’s a good idea to know a little about that person. Therefore, I thought I’d share a little of my professional history.

I’m 34 years of age. I was born in Syracuse, New York. I am a graduate of C.W. Baker High School located in Baldwinsville, New York. I also attended the highly respected Onondaga Community College in Syracuse.

After spending my first 21 years in New York, I took a job transfer to New Jersey. I was a GM for a company called Hoyts Cinemas. It was my job to train and promote new managers as my company acquired existing operations. After a year in New Jersey, I relocated to Boston, Massachusetts. I spent 4 years in the Boston area doing more of the same for Hoyts.

Though I enjoyed what I did (and moved quickly up the ranks as a young man), I knew that I wanted a bigger challenge than what I was getting with Hoyts. So in 2001, I decided to move to Decatur, Florida and try something completely different….Real Estate.

Within a few short months I had successfully completed the requirements for obtaining a Florida Real Estate license. In 2002 I joined a local Coldwell Banker franchise. This particular franchise had a niche that I took to right away. That niche was vacation and 2nd home sales (though I have now gotten more involved with foreclosure sales). Given the location of the office (15 minutes from Disney) it was a logical choice for that type of selling.

I spent the next 2 ½ years with Coldwell. It was there that I crafted my skills as an expert in the International property business. Of course I sold my fair share of residential properties along the way, but my primary focus was always the 2nd home market. While with Coldwell I earned high praise and earned a number of awards and national recognition (including rookie of the year and top listing agent amongst others).

In 2003 I decided to further my education and succeeded in earning my Florida Broker’s License. With this license in hand, I partnered up with a colleague in 2004 to begin a company called Central Florida Home Sales.

For the 1st time, I was an owner and broker of my own outfit. This was both exciting and challenging. Because I had spent so many years as a GM (in what I like to refer to as my past life!) with Hoyts, I was able to utilize a number of my managerial skills when dealing with this new venture. As a company we hired a number of sales associates and experienced a great deal of success. However, I never felt completely satisfied. After 3 years, I felt like there was something missing. I wanted something bigger and perhaps more specific. So, I moved on.

It was then that I opened Steven Ladd Realty. This venture lasted over 2 1/2 years and led me to eventually merge my business with Keller Williams.

After 8 years in Florida, my family and I decided it was time to move on. I am now a happy to report that I am a licensed real estate associate broker in Atlanta, Georgia. I have joined a local Keller Williams office in Decatur and am looking forward to building many new relationships for years to come.
